About Adelaide Dirt Kart Club

The Adelaide Dirt Kart Club, first started out back in 1980 under the name of Noarlunga Kart Club. In early 1985 a local motor sporting club invited the club to use their track facilities at Lonsdale, South of Adelaide. Interest soon grew and the local council allocated a site on the old Lonsdale dump site. Construction of a track at Lonsdale began in 1985. Due to the rapid development of the Hallet Cove residential sites in 1986, the council asked the club to relocate.

In march 1986 the club secured a new site at the Speed Kart complex, later known as the location of kart mania on waterloo corner road Burton. September 1987 brought a club name change. Now to be known as the Adelaide Dirt Kart Club inc. 18 years later in 2004 the track site changed ownership and the leasing arrangements changed and with the site needing to be redeveloped the ADKC needed to find a new home. October 2004 brought a club decision to accept an offer to once again relocate, this time an exciting location was found right in the heart of Motorsport territory. Speedway City, Virginia South Australia is now the home of the Adelaide Dirt Kart Club located between Speedway City, and Adelaide International Raceway.

February 2005 saw the 1st race meeting occur at the new location. In the October of 2008 with the help of Darren Woods, the first 200cc Dash for Cash was held and turned into Adelaide's most prestigious race meeting of the season. In January 2009 the clubrooms are reopened again, Power, Toilets, Shelters & Sheds are all complete. In 2010 the canteen is back in the clubrooms, track has banking added and now lights are next on the agenda.
